Gameumentary – Seeking Features Writers and Reviewers (552 views)

Updated: Sorry, left my email out of the application part! It’s there now.

Hello all,

Nick Calandra here, you may remember me from OnlySP (Only Single Player). After much deliberation I have sold the website to begin my next adventure which is called Gameumentary.

Gameumentary is a site dedicated to providing stories from around the gaming industry through the use of longform articles, analysis pieces and more. We are not a daily news website and are focused only on providing our readers stories they’d want to read. We’re looking to become a real games journalism outlet, rather than just another generic news site that republishes the same stories as every other outlet.

My team and I are dubbing the site as a gaming feature outlet rather than a gaming news outlet as the site is completely focused on quality over quantity. We have some secret stuff in the works as well that we think the gaming community will find rather exciting…

Gameumentary will officially launch on January 1st, 2017. There’s still placeholder content on the site for now, but you can visit the site now at – If you’d like to see my previous work, please visit

We expect Gameumentary to be a volunteer-only site for the first year of its operations as we work on building up an audience from scratch. For comparison, our last site, OnlySP, was able to reach 100-150K visits a month.

If you’re looking to gain valuable experience and be part of a strong team of writers looking to make a name for themselves in the games journalism industry, we want to hear from you.

FEATURES – Gameumentary is looking to add another features writer to the team to work on longform articles, QA interviews and other creative projects. Feature writers need to have exceptional writing skills, good time management, transcribing experience and the ability to come up with unique pitches for interesting stories.

These articles are extensive and cover a wide range of different subjects. If you like talking to new people and sharing their stories, this is the position for you.

REVIEWS & ANALYSIS – Gameumentary is looking to add one to two more reviewers / analysis writers to our team before the year is out. A reviewer’s job is pretty self-explanatory. However, as an analysis writer, you’ll be working on projects like Narrative Analysis pieces where you break down the game’s narrative, characters, symbolism and so on.

We’re looking to expand this section of the site to focus on a number of different topics. This could have you analyzing the open world of the latest RPG, character relationships, soundtracks and so on.

If you have a keen eye for detail and like to explore games in-depth, this is the position for you.

*Gaming PC required for this position.

As mentioned above, Gameumentary is expected to be a volunteer-only site for the first year. Depending on our success, this may change.

Writers will be provided all the utilities needed to complete their work, along with access to a shared Steam account that allows all of our writers to have access to the review copies we acquire.

We are aware that “experience” isn’t much in the form of compensation, but we can promise you that you will learn a lot working with us, be put in touch with a number of different developers, have access to a strong team of writers and peers and produce work that you want the world to see.

**Please include two samples of your work when applying. Applicants who do not follow the application will be thrown out.

Please allow us up to 72 hours to respond to your application. If you do not hear back after that time-period then we will most likely not be contacting you. Thank you.
