Gamer Laughs is a new upcoming website that looks at the fun aspects of gaming. We currently produce our own written and multimedia content, publish it and share it via social media. Our site is still growing and we are looking for more people to join our team and help us build the site up.
We are looking for fun and charismatic contributors with a sense of humour that want to work on a freelance volunteer basis.
Check us out at gamerlaughs.com to see what we are all about.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
Lists and Top 10’s – Funnier the better, glitches, awful games, hilarious mods, we want our readers to laugh and enjoy our articles.
News – Hey, news can be fun! We’re looking for writers with a keen eye for news but also a sense of humour! We don’t focus on news very much but if you’re passionate about news and the gaming industry, and you can keep up, we want you on our team!
Editorials – Personal Experiences – Were you once so addicted to WoW that you forgot to eat for a week? We want to our audience to hear about it. Do you think outside the box or have completely different opinions to the rest of the Lemmings out there? Then you can put your thoughts into editorials.
Quizzes – Do you know a lot about a particular game series? Do you want to test the knowledge of others? Are you one of those people who just LOVE trick questions? If so, join our quizzes team! We’re looking for contributors to write weekly quizzes, with different focuses and themes about any and all gaming topics.
Reviews – Did GOTY actually bore you to death and why? Or did that awful iOS game get you addicted into all night sessions alone? We don’t want the boring usual stuff, we want to hear what you actually thought; no matter how sarcastic.
Videos – Do you want to get into Let’s Plays? Want to show your gameplay, your know-how or your sense of humour through video? Then join our video team. We currently have a small YouTube channel we are looking to expand with let’s plays, gameplay demos, article videos and more! If you’re tech savvy, we want you as a producer. If you’re charismatic, be a host! If you’re a jack-of-all-trades, then show off your talent and take part!
Editors – We have a team of editors responsible for checking everyone’s articles and scheduling them to be published. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it. If you’re a person who likes spelling and grammar and wants to help out, we DEFINITELY want you. You can never have too many editors!
Social media – If you love to use social media and you know how to get people’s attention, then we want you on our advertising team! Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr; whatever you can use, you can go nuts with and spread our name!
Your ideas – Anything you would like to write about should be put through ourselves first to avoid any mistakes/double articles. But we do want our articles to feel personal. Games that got you started on the road to gaming darkness or perhaps that one time you spent 24 hours waiting outside a shop on the release date only to have the last copy ripped out of your hands by an old lady.
If you want to do some freelance work and get your name on our website, then send us an email. We currently don’t work on a budget or timeframe so you can work around your own commitments providing you inform us first. Everyone in our team works in their own time.
Requirements and Application
For legal reasons, we can only accept applications from persons over 18 years old.
You don’t need any formal qualifications to be a part of Gamer Laughs, but we definitely look for people with a strong grasp of the English language. You need to be able to comfortably write in English, as well as writing to a high standard. The content you produce would be sourced, written and published by yourself with a little help from our team.
If you know how to use any media software and technology (audio editing, video editing, photoshop, etc.), let us know! We could put you to great use.
To apply, email email@example.com with your name, age, contact details and what you’re interested in. If you have published content previously on other sites or publications, send us a link. If not, write a short essay for us about “The Funniest Gaming Experience I Have Ever Had”; so that we can see how you write and what sort of content might suit you.
This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. The site is still in its infancy and we are still developing our site, our content and our reach. This is a fantastic opportunity to get on board early and be part of a new publication; it looks great on a resume and it gives you a chance to get your work published; fantastic for new and amateur journalists.
Come and join us at Gamer Laughs and help us expand the company into the gaming industry.
