Blackpowder Games is looking for staff writers to join the team.

About Us:

Blackpowder Games is an upcoming publication about PC hardware, peripherals, VR games and indie games. We seek writers in the following categories:

• Listicle Writers (e.g. best shooter games of 2022)
• Game reviews of unknown indie games that are coming out on Steam (no AAA games). Must be recent games!
• VR game reviews (mainly games on the Oculus platform). You MUST own an Oculus Quest 2 to apply for this position.
• Game guides: Are you a pro at a certain game? Can you offer advice to most people? Must have proof of your credentials.
• PC Hardware and peripheral writers. You know the ins and outs of PC building, have a good understanding of different PC parts and understand jargon such as "ray tracing" and "DLSS"
• Troubleshoot writer: Someone is having trouble getting their game to run - you'll write articles to help these people out.

• Beginner friendly: You'll be taught the process on how to become a superstar writer. No previous published samples required, but it's an advantage to have.
• Fully Remote
• Flexible schedule - you work whenever you want, wherever you want. Our only requirement is you submit at least one article per week.
• VR game reviewers will receive almost any game they want for free.
• Non-VR reviewers will also receive some free games, but it won't be as frequent until we can establish ourselves in the flatscreen gaming industry.
• You only review games you enjoy - or games that you were going to buy anyways. We don't force you to review anything you don't want.

Payment Terms:

• VR Game reviews: $10-15 per article (500-800 words) + a free copy of the game
• Game reviews: $10-15 per article (500-800 words) - no free copy (you review whatever you were going to buy yourselves).
• Listicles: $30 per article (1500-2000 words)
• Game Guides: TBD
• Troubleshooter guides: $30 per article (500-800 words)
• PC Hardware and peripheral writers: $120-150 per article

+ end of month bonuses
